Exploring the Frontiers of Quantum Computing
At BEIT, we help originate Quantum Advantage! In April 2025, we organize a workshop that joins together researchers from Poland exploring various topics that either explore quantum computing and quantum information or will benefit from fault-tolerant quantum devices. The main research themes of the workshop OQA-Pl (Originating Quantum Advantage in Poland) are:
- Quantum Information, Hamiltonian Simulation, and Quantum Error Correction
- The usefulness of Quantum Computers
Key Scientific Questions Include:
- What applications can be linked to a valuable quantum computation? Is there evidence of quantum speedup? State of things: applications, algorithms, and speedups matrix.
- How can quantum information, certification, channels theory, and HPC simulations help determine value in a quantum computation?
- How can quantum chemistry aid in achieving quantum utility? What form does QEC have to have in order to reach quantum utility? In which algorithms, under what conditions, and for which applications can we find provable quantum speedup?
- What is the role of quantum simulation in answering hard questions in modern physics and chemistry?
- How do we verify the correctness of a quantum computation? Two main aspects, information-theoretic, by reference: quantum chemistry.
- Which quantum architectures can first give QA? Emergent technologies for quantum computation.
- The role of HPC in simulating quantum circuits, offline pre- and post-processing (quantum chemistry), online decoding, and feed-forward. Simulated annealing for quantum computing.
With speakers from UJ, AGH, ICFO, IITiS PAN, UG, and CFT PAN, we aim to discover pains of the community and devise a strategy to address them while asking inconvenient questions about quantum computing.
